The restaurant name Xia Fei originates from Avenue Joffre (Xia Fei Lu in Chinese) at the French concession in 1930s Shanghai. It was named after a famous French Commander in Chief, General J. J. C. Joffre. This boulevard, now renamed as Huai Hai Lu, was known as the ¡§Champs Elysees¡¨ in Shanghai and was the hub of the aristocratic international society. This thriving street reflects the metropolitan spirit of Shanghai.
